Self Employed Women’s Association, India (SEWA)

"Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) organizes women workers by helping them obtain work security, income security, food security and social security. Giving women the tools needed to be autonomous and self-reliant, both economically and in terms of their decision-making ability is SEWA’s main goal. SEWA supports its members in developing their own economic organizations and achieving their goals of full employment and self reliance. Development activities strengthen women’s bargaining power and offer them new alternatives. Satya (truth), ahimsa (non-violence), sarvadharma (integrating all faiths, all people) and khadi (propagation of local employment and self reliance) are the principles we follow."
